Life Story | Our CEO Dejehan

We met up with the The Meeting House and headed over to Arc Recording Studio to tell Dejehan’s story of how “God equips us to do great work”. It was pleasure to collaborate with the Meeting House on this project and we are honored they chose Dejehan to tell his story.

Credit Institute of Canada

We had a fantastic time with the Credit Institute of Canada— Conestoga Chapter. Dejehan had the pleasure of entertaining a group of 35 credit professionals during cocktail hour, and followed with his “Ubuntu” message after dinner. “Ubuntu” can be loosely translated to “I am because we are”, it is a African way of life and furthermore, a human way of life. Dejehan had each attendee look into each other’s eyes and share the statement “When I See you I See ____”. Not only was his message well received but the vibrations of unity, humanity, solidarity and understanding was left in the room as everyone joined hands in a circle to sing Bruno Mars “Just The Way You Are” to conclude the evening.

Here is a testimonial from one of the attendee’s:

Dejehan provided music at our event during the social hour before dinner and was also the keynote speaker following dinner. The music was perfect and the motivational speech after dinner was impactful, insightful and delivered very clearly and concisely. Very personable and a pleasure to work with!

The Tune In Foundation in Kenya, Africa!

In May 2019 the Tune In Foundation expanded its borders and touched down on African soil for the first time! Through a parternship with Global Youth Groove, our Executive Director Dejehan Hamilton spoke at two schools in Nairobi, Kenya and a school in Kakamega, Kenya. During the two-week tour, Dejehan also worked with the Global Youth Groove youth band preparing them for a concert that he had the opportunity to headline. In addition, Dejehan led a music workshop that was open to the public and saw attendance from many local musicians within the Kakamega community. This was a ground breaking moment for the Tune In Foundation and was a great opportunity to pour into youth on a global scale. We look forward to continuing this relationship and expanding into new global communities!

KW Conference 2019

Our Executive Director Dejehan Hamilton had the opportunity to present a keynote speech at this year's KW Conference in Kitchener-Waterloo. The KW Conference was held for the Kitchener-Waterloo Counselling Service staff who took the day to recharge, listening to a lineup of speakers and participating in activities as part of their retreat. Dejehan spoke about how important it is for a counselor to have a counselor. He outlined how when you are someone of service, it can be hard to build a support system for Self. Dejehan spoke on the formula to happiness and unhappiness to ensure that staff would always be able to adjust when the psychological, emotional, and physical pressures of their demanding job become too much. He was well received by the audience and represented the Tune In Foundation well.

7th Annual Musica Palooza

Last year we expanded our program's reach from one city, Hamilton, to a total three cities across Ontario. This year we saw significant growth in these two additional cities: Ottawa and Oakville. We are so proud to have brought the Musica Palooza Camp programming to 76 Ontarian youth this year, with Oakville housing our largest attendance in Musica Palooza history with 48 campers.

We had an amazing summer of growth and forging new relationships and partnerships. We are grateful for the continued support of Long & McQuade who provided assistance with rental instruments in each city, $100 worth of gift cards for each city, 3 instrument giveaways for each city and lots of swag for the kids' take home bags at the end of camp. We also formed a new relationship with ARC Recording studio and were able to bring our budding musicians into a professional recording studio to cut their first record as a band. Needless to say the results were amazing, the kids were blown away by the final results, and each of them had the opportunity to go home with a copy of their work.

We look forward to fostering our new relationships while continuing to make new connections with other community partners. Musica Palooza 2019 was one for the books!
